In the interest of safety and minimisation of risk to all, the GPSSBC has resolved that physical hearings will be minimised through the convening of all matters through the virtual platform. All other meetings related to Collective Bargaining or other will only be convened virtually.
In exceptional cases, the General Secretary will make a determination on a case by case basis where a party objects to the virtual hearing. In such instance the General Secretary will make a determination as to whether to allow the case to proceed physically as to minimise any prejudice to a Party or postpone the matter to a further date, provided that such objection is received timeously and is sufficiently substantiated and the physical hearing is agreed to by all Parties.
This decision is as a result of much deliberation on the balancing of the right to social justice and the right to life.
The Council will continue to assess the situation and make the appropriate announcements as and when necessary.
